Enhancing awareness of the durability,
beauty and design capabilities of masonry.
The
Arizona Masonry Guild, Inc. (AMG)
was established in 1958 to service
the masonry industry statewide. Its
members include manufacturers, suppliers,
cement companies, masons, retailers
and a variety of business support
organizations. Masonry products include
block, brick or stone. Masonry is
known for its strength and its natural
ability to

blend
with the surrounding environment.
The Guild has played a significant
role in shaping the residential and
commercial building industry during
the past 52 years with programs of
value, (mainly educationally oriented)
for both the industry and general
public. The Guild has contributed
to the economic development of Arizona
and the advancement of technology
and education, new product development,
improved construction standards,
enhanced safety policies and increased
the energy efficiency of masonry
products.
AMG also
has a long-standing commitment to
education, supporting programs for
architectural and engineering students
at Arizona State University, University
of Arizona and Northern Arizona University.
It sponsors a number of professional
state-approved continuing education
programs and workshops for the real
estate, engineering and architectural
communities.
The
Guild continuously underwrites educational
programs with university professors
to conduct studies on energy efficiency,
develop Internet engineering courses
and write specification manuals and
handbooks for the industry. AMG also
sponsors speakers for public and
industry-related functions throughout
the year.
Guild
members serve on numerous local,
regional and national technical committees
for research, to improve the standards
of products, update building codes
and enhance safety at construction
sites.
The
Arizona Masonry Guild is also committed
to providing educational programs
for the general public that are helpful,
from small projects like laying brick
or patio pavers, to building their
next home with masonry

products.
The Guild is leading the
way in supporting versatile products
with more options in color and texture,
while still maintaining its durability,
fire resistance ratings, and energy-savings
features."
AMG is
also active in local community issues,
and has helped programs like the
Sojouner Center, by donating labor
and materials to help expand their
facility so they can provide more
beds for homeless and battered women
and children. Or helping kids in
Avondale design and build a skateboard
park and by donating labor and materials
to help build new facilities at Camp
Geronimo, a Boy Scout facility in
Payson. Our most recent involvement
is with the Sunshine Acres Children's
home where we have donated materials
and labor to assist in building a
girl's dorm.
The
Guild has helped
Habitat For Humanity/Tucson to build
homes featuring green build concepts
or homes that are environmentally
sensitive and has also contributed
to
Sunshine
Acres Childrens Home.
